Transplanted to the Pacific Northwest from Ukraine in the early 1990s, just after the fall of the U.S.S.R., I have grown to love it here. My path to medicine evolved as I explored the labor force, starting with a construction job and moving into a medical assistant role, where I encountered remarkable practitioners of medicine, who demonstrated a dedication to service, healing, and the practice of medicine that inspired me and led me to my calling in medicine. After years of college and successful completion of my studies at the University of Washington School of Medicine, I completed an internal medicine residency training. I began and continue to practice hospital medicine, which I find very challenging, stimulating, and fulfilling. I enjoy working with a group of like-minded practitioners to improve the well-being of our patients and make a difference in the delivery of health care.
In my practice, I treat exclusively hospitalized patients, assisting them and outpatient practitioners with managing a wide range of severe illnesses and complicated conditions in the hospital setting. This is a collaborative effort and has many moving parts, but in the end, it aims to provide a more holistic experience for the patients and their families during very challenging times.
Outside of my work, I dedicate time to my family and enjoy a broad range of activities that allow me to balance my work demands and maintain a healthy lifestyle outside of the professional environment. I love to explore local communities and the world at large, satisfy my creative and inquisitive side, and practice applied ingenuity—whether it is a home improvement project, tinkering in the garage, or landscaping the yard.
