Where I practice
After growing up and attending medical school in California I had the great fortune to practice pediatrics in the US Air Force for seven years. When it came time to leave the Air Force I was naturally attracted to Kaiser Permanente as it aligned so nicely with how I wanted to care for my patients. I find that working collaboratively with my patients has allowed me to ensure they receive the best possible care while respecting their individual needs and circumstances. In recent years I have been asked to oversee our clinical information systems. I am responsible for ensuring that these systems help provide a seamless care experience for our clinicians, staff and, most importantly, our patients.
About my practice
Although I still see patients on a limited basis, I have found that the work I do with our computerized medical record to be very fulfilling. This work has provided me insight to the practice of medicine involving every specialty and locations where we deliver care to our patients. I am constantly striving to ensure our best practices are easily available to all our clinicians. It is very rewarding to see how this works allows our clinicians to provide efficient, high quality and cost effective care.
How I thrive
My family is very important to me and I am fortunate that my job allows me to work closely with my wonderful wife. Outside of work we thrive by getting to the gym at least 4 to 5 times per week. We enjoy travelling, particularly to sunny destinations so our Vitamin D levels stay high. Our five adult children have really taught us how to be better parents (and for myself a better pediatrician) as we have grown with them over the years.
