Where I practice
After working in a solo Pediatric Surgery practice, I took a chance and relocated from Las Vegas, Nevada to Portland, Oregon in 2013. It has been the "shot in the arm" that I needed to fall in love with my profession once again. Originally from Ogden, Utah, I completed my undergraduate degree in chemistry followed by medical school and general surgery residency all at the University of Utah. Then, it was off to Toronto, Ontario to complete a pediatric surgery fellowship at the largest children's hospital in North America, The Hospital For Sick Children. I enjoy so much of what Portland and the Pacific Northwest has to offer and that, combined with a challenging and rewarding position, has made a huge difference in my life.
About my practice
I am one of two Pediatric Surgeons at Kaiser Permanente Northwest. In addition to providing outpatient surgery and clinics at Kaiser Permanente, I am a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery with the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University and have the opportunity to mold and teach surgical residents and pediatric surgical fellows at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. My passion is to provide the best and most compassionate surgical care possible to our neonates, babies, children and teenagers as well as guide many anxious parents through very difficult times. As a pediatric surgeon, I am able to treat a multitude of surgical issues in premature neonates through the teenage years and feel that I have the best profession/career ever.
How I thrive
While I still love desert hiking, I have come to love the green that is the Pacific Northwest and have, as yet, not minded all the rain. Presently, I am working on getting all of my family relocated to the Pacific Northwest and that includes our small one-eyed Yorkie. While not at work, I enjoy cooking with all of the bounty that abounds here and exploring the beautiful surrounding areas. Recycling has become an obsession.
