Prior to pursuing medicine, I majored in Renaissance art history and minored in Italian. While this meant a much more circuitous route to becoming a physician, I would not have traded this undergraduate experience for anything. I completed medical school in New Mexico and my emergency medicine residency at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). I feel blessed to have been able to practice for over 10 years in both states after my board certification in emergency medicine. I have now returned home to Oregon and have become part of the faculty at OHSU and the VA. My practice has varied, and I have been fortunate enough to work in busy trauma care facilities, small community hospitals, and large academic centers. I am thrilled to be part of the Kaiser Permanente Network of Physicians where I have found a true home.
I am privileged to count myself amongst my colleagues in Emergency Medicine. We can provide care to members at their greatest time of need so that they may return to their loved ones and everyday health routines. I believe this can be done in a compassionate manner, even in a busy environment, and that we can work closely with the members' regular providers to help return members back to their optimal health. After working in dedicated residency and training medical centers as well as in independent private community hospitals, I am so happy to be practicing in Emergency Medicine providing high-quality emergent care to members while using a team approach to healthcare.
It seems a shame we get just one go-round on this planet, as it is just too large and diverse to see it all, experience it all and absorb it all in just one lifetime. I have an inordinate fondness for travel which I am lucky enough to marry with my mad love of food and languages. During my free time, you will find me cooking large meals to share with friends, reading, writing, hiking, camping and snowboarding on my beloved Mt. Hood.
