Where I practice
I didn't fall far from the tree. I grew up in the Willamette Valley town of Monmouth, Oregon. I attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland and entered Oregon Health & Sciences University's third class of Physician Assistants in 1997. During my training, I discovered that I have a love for Urgent Care and Emergency Medicine. I consider it an honor to provide medical care to our members when they or their children are ill, injured, and possibly frightened about the outcome of their medical condition. I especially love the opportunity to meet people of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life. Around Portland, you may see me with my wife and two daughters and, if you're lucky, playing French accordion music.
About my practice
I work exclusively in the Urgent Care system at Kaiser Permanente. I have a special interest in laceration repair and orthopedic injuries. My philosophy is to provide calm, efficient, competent care to ease my patients through the often difficult experience of being ill or injured. I pay close attention to developments in Urgent Care and Emergency medicine to be able to deliver a high standard of medical care. I strive to show all of my patients and their families the kind of respect and dignity that I would want my own family to experience in a medical setting.
How I thrive
To me, thriving means keeping my family relationships, work endeavors, and personal interests and hobbies in balance. For me to be a successful medical professional, I need to also be present for my family and childen and take time to pursue my own creative interests. I volunteer at my kid's school and as a local soccer coach. I'm an avid swimmer and yoga practitioner. I have an active interest in sustainable food systems and Celtic traditional music.
