Where I practice
I knew I wanted to be in a helping profession since I was a young teen. I earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from California State University in 1999 and had the great privilege of raising 4 children while continuing my education. As a therapist, I have worked in various capacities including private practice, community mental health, and here at Kaiser Permanente. I am a licensed counselor in both Oregon and Washington.
About my practice
As your therapist, I will focus on your strengths, values, skill sets, and social supports to better assist you with choosing behaviors that will help to improve your quality of life. I will encourage you to go outside of your comfort zone to live the life that is important to you. I am a big believer in creating community and depending on your needs, I may recommend other resources, both within Kaiser Permanente and in the community at large.
- Culturally specific care: older adults; affirming care for LGBTQIA, non-binary, transgender, immigrants/refugees
- Population specialties: adults, couples
- Language capacity: English
- Areas of focus: I am a generalist therapist and most often treat adults with mood disorders, grief and loss, and couples counseling
How I thrive
I thrive first and foremost by spending time with my husband and adult children and their partners. I am a foodie and love to cook and bake and to eat at favorite restaurants. I love walking, camping, music, playing the piano, reading, and traveling to learn about and engage with different cultural perspectives. My family tells me I should be a travel agent given the amount of time I spend looking for the next big adventure. Walking the streets of an unknown city for hours is heaven for me!
