I was born and raised in rural southeast Texas, where I developed a fondness for outdoor activities including trail-running and hiking. I completed residency training in adult psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, both at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. Over my five years in Louisiana, I enjoyed the regional cuisine and live music. Following training, I joined the Kaiser Permanente team in Oregon. I feel blessed every day to work in medicine and to have the opportunity to work with my colleagues and patients.
I am part of a large team of mental health professionals dedicated to providing excellent care. I have trained in both adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry, and I split my time treating both populations. I have broad professional interests including child development; hyperactivity and inattention disorders; and autism spectrum disorders. I am fortunate to work with a very dedicated team at Kaiser Permanente. Philosophically, I seek to provide a safe space for patients to report on their symptoms and to educate them about their illness and treatment options, and together find optimal treatment plans.
I make daily efforts to keep both my body and mind active. I run on trails, hike, or lift weights several times a week. For variety, I may do some indoor climbing or join a pick-up soccer game. I enjoy frequenting the many bookstores of this region and keep my mind active by participating in a collaborative writing project with friends.
