Where I practice
As a native of Portland, I grew up with an appreciation for trees, rain, and a connection to nature which influenced me to do my undergraduate work in biology. Along the way, I decided people were pretty fascinating too, in everything from our anatomy to our social interactions. In an attempt to learn something about health before I began studying disease, I completed a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in health behavior at Portland State University before attending medical school at Oregon Health and Science University, and then residency at UC Davis in Sacramento.
About my practice
I was naturally drawn to Family Medicine because it values treating the whole person through all stages of life, rather than focusing on a single disease or organ system. My philosophy of care is based on this value and the belief that there is no one-size-fits-all treatment plan. I believe in working with my members to understand their unique health needs and develop a plan that truly works for their life situation. As a physician, I focus on actively listening to members’ concerns and helping guide them through available treatment options empowering them to make the best decisions for their health. I believe the most important things we can do to be healthy are to move more, eat real food, get quality sleep, and be happy.
How I thrive
I spend most of my time outside of work with my family enjoying the simple things that life has to offer. My perfect day would include a good cup of coffee (one of my favorite things about Portland!), a bike ride around town or a yoga class, and sharing a delicious meal with my husband. You may also find me backpacking, working on home improvement projects, or wandering the aisles of international grocery stores.
