Where I practice
I was born in South America, in Colombia, a country of many facets and many challenges that taught me to be resourceful and driven. I came to the United States in 2000 to continue my medical training and specialized as a pediatrician. I consider practicing medicine — and, more specifically, taking care of children — to be a great privilege. The possibility of constant learning while serving others is truly what attracted me to medicine. For most of my time in the U.S. I have lived in the south, but meeting my wonderful fiancé has brought me to Portland. I love the energy of this city, the vibrant colors of nature, and the multiple things to do.
About my practice
Listening and truly caring can go a long way in medicine. I have learned that a lot of the answers we constantly seek as clinicians are found in our initial encounters with members. I strive to make my patients feel heard, and I believe in the importance of enabling them to make their own medical decisions by educating them with the best information. I am glad to be part of an organization that understands and practices this philosophy. I have a special interest in pediatric dermatology and feel very comfortable treating dermatologic conditions in children. My native language is Spanish, and I find it rewarding to be able to provide care to Spanish-speaking members in their own language in such vulnerable times as during the sickness of a child.
How I thrive
My life as a physician thrives in balance. Water-soluble oil painting, traveling to new places, learning about different cultures, practicing yoga, and connecting with family and friends are the passions that nurture my soul and re-energize my spirit.
