If you deferred signing up for Part B, based on the retirement date you provided, it’s now time to do this.
NOTE: To be eligible for a Medicare Advantage plan, you must be entitled to both Medicare Parts A & B.
You will be required to submit proof of employment in addition to a Part B application.

Railroad employees:
If you’re entitled to Railroad Benefits, your process may be different. Contact the Railroad Board at 1-800-772-5772 (TTY 1-312-751-4701).
Receiving your Medicare card
After you’ve applied for Medicare Part B, you should receive your Medicare card within 4 to 6 weeks.
If you don’t receive your card in 4 to 6 weeks, sign in or create your mymedicare.gov account. There you can follow up in the following ways:
- View your entitlements
- See if your card has been mailed
- Find your Medicare number
- Print an official copy of your Medicare card (optional)

In California, Hawaii, and Washington, Kaiser Permanente is an HMO plan with a Medicare contract. In Colorado, Kaiser Permanente is an HMO, HMO-POS and PPO plan with Medicare contracts. In Oregon, Southwest Washington, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, Kaiser Permanente is an HMO and HMO-POS plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in Kaiser Permanente depends on contract renewal.
