About me

I was born in Ethiopia, and lived in the Middle East before moving to the U.S., where I have lived for over 25 years. I relocated from Virginia to Hawaii to accept a position with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG).

The desire to work in the medical field was a dream of mine from a young age. I initially entered the nursing profession because I was driven to be of service, and was later inspired to continue providing care to patients from a different perspective as a physician.

About my practice

Working in internal medicine and pediatrics allows me to form relationships with both my adult and pediatric patients, and provide preventive care as well as treatment in times of illness.

Initially I came to HPMG as a contract physician, but I decided to apply for a permanent position because I liked my work environment, my colleagues and the system that is set up to provide high quality care for patients. As a physician with HPMG, I aim to partner with my patients to provide optimal care and assist them in achieving health and well-being.

I enjoy getting to know my patients by asking questions and allowing them to get to know me as well. Finding things in common is a great place to start, as we all have cultural and general human experiences that we share with each other.

How I thrive

I try to exercise regularly and follow the same advice I give to my patients about making healthy lifestyle choices. Taking the time to periodically walk on the beach is a great way to relax and unwind as well.

I enjoy spending time with friends, hiking, snorkeling, exploring the island, and learning more about Hawaii.
