I attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. After completing my residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, I did my fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
About my practice
I am board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. I joined the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group in 1990, and began working with the Kaiser Permanente Sports Medicine Clinic in 2008.
A unique feature of the clinic is that it features a sports medicine-trained orthopedic surgeon and family medicine physicians working side by side. My colleagues at the clinic, with their backgrounds in family medicine, treat not only musculoskeletal conditions but also medical conditions unique to sports medicine, such as concussions and exercise prescriptions. Together we are able to effectively manage the full spectrum of sports medicine care.
I believe that orthopedic surgeons must do more than just treat injuries when they occur. They also must participate in developing programs that allow their patients to perform at their maximum and remain injury free.
How I thrive
A healthy, well-balanced diet and a consistent program of regular exercise are key to maintaining health.
