When you're pregnant, you want to know that you're getting the best possible care for you and your baby.

Each year, more than 90,000 pregnant women receive care at our clinics, and we bring their babies into the world at our own Kaiser Permanente or affiliated hospitals.

We believe good care comes from a partnership between you and your doctor. Our doctors, nurses, and other health professionals work with you to keep you and your baby healthy, and to give you the information you need to make the best decisions for your growing family.

At Kaiser Permanente you'll find:

Support from expert staff

  • You'll meet with your personal physician, nurse practitioner, obstetrician, or midwife* on a regular basis and work together to make your pregnancy a healthy one. Learn more about our prenatal appointments.
  • A 24-hour advice nurse is available by phone (get the advice telephone number for a location near you), or you can email your doctor with questions or concerns.
  • We provide extra help for moms with drug or alcohol problems with our Early Start programA service of the Kaiser Permanente News Center.   • Our state of the art electronic medical record systemA service of the Kaiser Permanente News Center. Easy access to information

  • Find out what's happening to your baby and your body week by week. Plus, we have hundreds of articles, tools, podcasts, and videos that will help with questions like what to eat, what kinds of exercise are safe, and how to prepare for birth.
  • Access your personal health information from home with kp.org. Most test results, plus care instructions from your past doctor visits are available online.
  • In our medical centers you'll find classes on topics like childbirth, breastfeeding, infant CPR, and prenatal nutrition.
  • You'll have the opportunity to tour our birth centers before your big day arrives.

Great care after your baby is born

  • Your baby will get the best possible care through regular appointments with a pediatrician. Your baby's doctor will guide you through the necessary screening tests and immunizations and check that your baby is meeting important development milestones.
  • You'll have the opportunity to learn about caring for your little one at home through classes, age-specific newsletters, and health information online.
  • You can also make pediatrician appointments and view medical information for your baby with kp.org.
