My gender: Female
Where I practice
I grew up in Buffalo, New York, and attended the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo, School of Medicine. My residency in emergency medicine was done at the Henry Ford Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
About my practice
My father was my inspiration to become a physician. He worked nights as a respiratory therapist and would come home and tell me about his experiences interacting with acutely ill patients and bringing them a sense of calm. I am board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. I keep current in my field by reading professional journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, and UpToDate. In 1999 I joined the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, where I enjoy collegial relationships with my peers. Currently I serve as resident coordinator and student preceptor for the Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Emergency Department. My philosophy is to deliver care that is competent, compassionate, and calming to the patient. I talk with patients about their families and about ways that they can relax and de-stress.
How I thrive
Regular cardio exercise, yoga, meditation, and going for walks all help me to stay in balance.
