Where I practice
I was born in Eagle Pass, Texas and moved with my family to Okinawa, Japan, where I grew up. My father’s job as a missionary took me and my family to Europe, Germany and Greenwich, Connecticut. Upon graduating from high school, we moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, and I immediately felt at home. My ability to speak Japanese came in handy for securing summer jobs during college and it was during this time that I met my lovely wife, who I have been married to for over 30 years. The opportunity to travel extensively through the Pacific, Europe and Russia was a blessing because it provided me with a diverse cultural education throughout my childhood. My wonderful appreciation for, and understanding of, the importance of all cultures is a quality that I strive to pass down to my four beautiful children.
About my practice
My interest in a career that incorporates science and daily interaction with people led me to pursue medicine. I was attracted to the diverse field of Ob/Gyn medicine because it encompasses both surgical and medical disciplines, which I find interesting and engaging. One of my most important philosophies in caring for my patients is to listen carefully to their concerns. I encourage my patients to visit my office after exams to provide them with a safe, comfortable setting where we can openly discuss treatment plans, patient care, and any thoughts they may have. I believe that establishing a relationship based on honesty and openness is the best way for me and my patients to work towards reaching their optimal health. I enjoy working within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because of the ease in which I can access our subspecialists as well as the rest of my colleagues. The fact that I am able to collaborate with a network of excellent physicians and providers assures me that my patients are receiving the most highly coordinated care possible. I am honored to be a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
How I thrive
I love to play basketball and racquetball to keep me physically active. To relax, I enjoy playing classical guitar as well as fishing.
