Where I practice
I was born in San Jose, California. After briefly residing on the East Coast, I returned to California in Marin County where I spent most of my childhood. I started with Kaiser Permanente in California in 1994 and then moved to Hawaii to continue my time with Kaiser Permanente. I have been married to my husband for over twenty years and have three beautiful children.
About my practice
When I was ten years old I told my mother that I wanted to deliver babies. I was always drawn to the biologic sciences and felt that the field of medicine was a natural career choice for me. My aunt, a head nurse in Labor and Delivery at Stanford Hospital, encouraged me to apply to medical school so I took her advice and went on to become an obstetrician/gynecologist physician. I consider my relationship with my patients to be a partnership. By being present and carefully listening, I am able to collect the information I need to help them find their optimum health. I enjoy providing prenatal education so as to positively impact their health and the health of their babies. The trust and confidence my patients put in me is truly a privilege. Our unique integrated model of care, allows our physicians and ancillary staff to work together in a non-competitive environment. This puts the interests of members and their families first so we can keep them healthy as our foremost priority. I am an active supporter of breastfeeding due to the immeasurable health benefits for mother and baby. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I also play a lead role in the Perinatal Safety Committee at a local community hospital facilitating training drills for the staff and improving care throughout the state.
How I thrive
My foundation is my family. To keep myself healthy, I enjoy eating nutritious foods and try to stay rested when I can. During my time off I love hiking in the forest, stand up paddling, traveling and exploring new places. I love to laugh, play with animals, relish my friendships and spend quality time with my family. I have participated as an Ob/Gyn physician with Aloha Medical Mission in Nepal and the Philippines. I always try to emphasize the positive and be grateful for the many wonderful blessings in my life.
