Mark C. Lum, MD
I speak: English
My gender: Male
Where I practice
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. I completed my residency training at UCLA Medical School and have been working with Kaiser Permanente Hawaii for over 20 years. I have a wonderful wife and three extraordinary children.
About my practice
Throughout my schooling, I was always interested in science and later found that the intellectual challenges that accompany a medical career appealed to me. I decided to specialize in internal medicine because of its emphasis on preventive care. I strongly believe in prevention, which includes exercise, healthy eating habits and weight control as a fundamental philosophy for delivering quality care. Working within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group lets me focus on my patients in the capacity of their care and in getting to know them. It is great to have the opportunities to converse with my patients about their hobbies, interests, and family life without having to worry about the business and financial aspects of a private practice. I also value the support of our incredible pharmacists, nurse practitioners and especially my physician colleagues.
How I thrive
I stay fit by running and hiking. Although two of my three children are grown, I love the time we get to spend together as a family. I also enjoy taking trips to the Pacific Northwest and California.
