About me

I was born and raised in the Philippines. My parents immigrated to the United States and some time later I came as a foreign student. My husband is also an internal medicine physician and we have two beautiful children together.

About my practice

Diabetes is prevalent in my family and its debilitating effects impacted many of my loved ones. I witnessed the devastating toll it took on my family members and decided to go into medicine to help them as well as others with similar medical concerns. As an internal medicine physician, I value being able to reach out to extended families like my own and provide the necessary care to help them achieve optimal health. My personal experiences with health care and diabetes influenced my philosophy of care: Treat patients as I would want my own family to be treated. I regard my patients from a personal perspective, so seeing them healthy and active in their communities is truly fulfilling. I am able to devote the time and attention I need to care for my patients because I work within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. I appreciate being able to focus on my patients without having to address the operational aspects of a private practice. In addition to practicing internal medicine, I also subspecialize in cancer pain and end of life care.

How I thrive

I stay active by playing tennis and keeping up with my children and their many activities. I also enjoy attending my children’s performances, playing the piano and going to church on Sundays.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
