I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. I was working in New England when I decided I wanted to learn more about treating the "whole patient" and had an opportunity to come to Hawaii in 1994 to do just that. Hawaii's people and weather were equally warm and welcoming, and it has felt more like home than anywhere I’ve ever been.
My mother died prematurely of cardiovascular disease, and this led to my decision to pursue a career in healthcare. I wanted to learn more about health and disease, and from that grew a desire to help patients to take charge of their health. I attended the Master of Science Physician Assistant program at the University of Northern New England in Biddeford, Maine. I enjoy working in neurosurgery because I have always been fascinated with the brain and central nervous system and how it directs all aspects of the human body. What I like about practicing with HPMG is the sense of family and teamwork I share with my fellow practitioners. I strive to allow our patients to feel as comfortable as possible by answering all their questions, and helping them to feel that they are in the most capable hands. I connect with my patients through laughter. I especially enjoy performing preoperative evaluations because they give me the opportunity to get to know the patient and their family members better.
I stay physically and mentally healthy by living by the ocean, swimming and walking on the sand. I enjoy going to movies with friends and colleagues, and attending events throughout the island to celebrate Hawaii.
