About me

I grew up in a small rural town in Ohio, surrounded by cornfields and highways. I loved my neighbors, but the smallness of my town instilled in me a desire to explore outside my roots. I've lived in New York City and Los Angeles, and I’m now proud to call Hawaii my home.

About my practice

Although I come from a family of doctors, no one ever told me to become a doctor. When my father, an anesthesiologist, came home from work he was always exhausted. But even though I was just a child, I could sense true happiness and satisfaction from him every day. I believe that influenced my decision to become a doctor. I do know I have always found fulfillment in being able to help people. I chose to pursue a medical career because I think doctors can help people at the times when they need it most.I went into urology because I think there's a special relationship between a patient and his or her urologist. Not everyone is comfortable dealing with urologic issues, which can be very private sometimes. I am very comfortable talking about and dealing with these issues.Clinical outcomes research is another important aspect of my work at Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG). The only way to deliver the best care is to constantly look back and evaluate how you are doing. HPMG is committed to doing this rigorously, and I enjoy being part of that commitment.At HPMG, we are a true team of doctors dedicated to our patients. I am here to serve, advocate for, and help my patients with their concerns. Delivering high quality care is always a team effort.It is easy to enjoy time with patients when things are going well. But I connect most with patients when times are difficult, and I stand by their side.

How I thrive

To stay fit, I play team sports like soccer, football, and basketball. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, and especially like to explore new places and try new activities.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
