Where I practice
I earned a bachelor's degree in English literature before discovering my passion for birth and women's health. I completed training as a doula and was present at several births before deciding to become a midwife. I returned to school and studied to be a certified nurse midwife at Oregon Health & Science University, finishing my master's degree in 2005. I was working at Kaiser Permanente in Oregon when I heard of the amazing opportunity to start a midwifery practice for Kaiser Permanente in Maui. I am honored to provide midwifery care at Maui Memorial Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente clinics.
About my practice
In the clinic, my goal is to make sure the women I am taking care of really understand what is going on with their bodies and feel comfortable and well-informed about the decisions they are making. I take care of all women, from their teens through menopause and beyond. I am an expert on birth control options and would love to help find the method that works best for you. I also can help with gynecological issues and of course prenatal care. When working in the hospital, I aim to help families achieve their desired birth experience. My job is to keep everyone safe, healthy, and informed during the labor process. I feel lucky to be part of Kaiser Permanente's strong birth team. Nurses, midwives, anesthetists (if needed), and doctors work together to ensure our patients' comfort and safety. I look forward to meeting your family at Maui Memorial Medical Center or at one of our clinics!
How I thrive
My husband and I are serious gardeners and are so excited to learn about gardening in a tropical climate and to garden year-round! We also have many pets to keep us and our two children busy. I enjoy pottery-making and try to exercise regularly. I love the ocean and plan to take up as many ocean sports as I can make time for!
