Gregory Y. G. Young, OD
I speak: English
My gender: Male
Where I practice
I was born in Kapiolani Hospital and raised in Kaimuki and Aina Haina, Honolulu, where I graduated from Kalani High School. My father retired from the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and was an Army veteran from the WWII era. My work ethic and values are largely from him.
About my practice
I learned a great deal about health care leadership and management during my tenure as an Air Force optometrist. I practiced as a therapeutic optometrist in the Air Force for 15 years. Afterwards, I accepted a position with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) and was very fortunate to be mentored by Kin Ching, a retired HPMG optometrist. I believe that our patients’ wellness should be our top priority. I like working at HPMG because it is a wellness based, non-competitive practice with the single primary goal to maximize and enhance our patients’ health. I enjoy connecting with my patients by getting to know their varied backgrounds and experiences. Every patient encounter is a valued experience.
How I thrive
To stay physically fit, I like to go for walks with my dog. I also enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and reading.
