Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Male
I'm accepting new patients
I was born in Glendale, California and raised in various places within Southern California until I was 18 years old. I then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for eight years before beginning medical residency in Hawaii in 1986. My wife also works for Kaiser Permanente Hawaii and I have four amazing children, three of whom have been volunteers here.
I have a strong family background in medicine and as a child was interested in the sciences and functions of the body. Becoming a doctor was a way for me to explore these scientific intricacies and be of service to others. Internal medicine is a perfect fit for me because I am able to continuously learn and see a wide variety of medical conditions. I admire the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because it is a caring and highly dedicated team of doctors. My colleagues are forward-thinking and always interested in improving care for their patients. My fellow physicians and staff members are genuinely kind and respectful people who are dedicated to the highest values of quality patient care. I believe in determination and perseverance to solve my patients’ medical problems. Giving up never helps anyone, but those who keep trying are able to reach their goals. I also love to share laughs with my patients and often open up conversations they’re most interested in. I am an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Hawaii training the young doctors of the future.
I exercise by going to the gym, body surfing and swimming laps in the pool. I have also been a member of the Kaiser Permanente Volleyball League for over 20 years. I enjoy traveling and keeping my mind active by reading fiction books. I also never pass up the opportunity to hang out with my family, which includes my dogs and cat.
