About me

I was born and raised in Pasadena, Texas. I obtained my Bachelor of Science at the University of Rochester in New York and my Master of Physician Assistant Studies in the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Sunshine and sparkling beaches lured me to Hawaii, and now the people, the aloha spirit, and the beautiful landscape make this place feel like home.

I’m one of seven siblings in a Brady Bunch-style family. After having five children, my mother went back to school to get her associate’s degree, her bachelor’s, and then a master’s degree in education. She taught me that you can accomplish anything if you have clear goals and sufficient drive. I try to enjoy life to the fullest and work hard to achieve the things that are important to me.

About my practice

The field of medicine has always interested me. As a combat medic in the U.S. Army Reserve, I went to work every day with a desire to learn more and do more. Becoming a physician assistant seemed to be the natural next step in my career path. I enjoy being in family practice, as this field allows me to work with my patients as a team to determine how best to meet their health needs.

To stay up-to-date with research and practice recommendations in my field, I attend conferences, read medical journals, and participate in my professional organization, the American Academy of PAs. Being in the U.S. Army Reserve also keeps me connected to the work I enjoyed so much as a medic.

It was the supportive and tight-knit community that attracted me to Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. I feel grateful to have become a part of such a well-regarded organization.

I look forward to talking to my patients and getting to know them as individuals. My philosophy of care is to approach each person with a a spirit of collaboration and to provide information that allows them to be involved in decisions about their treatment.

How I thrive

I stay physically healthy by practicing hot yoga, hiking, jogging barefoot on the beach, scuba diving, and participating in a variety of other water sports and outdoor activities. To stay emotionally grounded, I enjoy traveling to new places to broaden my perspectives on life, and I try to remember to smile when life presents me with challenges.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business and uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

A narrow network is defined as a tailored, tiered or high-performance network that has 80 percent or less overlap with a health plan’s broadest network offered to a member in any type of plan offered by that health plan. Kaiser Permanente does not have a narrow network with respect to its Marketplace plans. Members enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) Marketplace plans have access to the same provider networks as members enrolled in all other KFHP plans.
