Where I practice
I am a happy transplant from New Jersey and have been happily living in Hawaii for over 15 years. My husband is originally from Tonga so we decided that the Big Island was a good half-way point to live and is a wonderful place to raise a family. We have three children; my oldest son is an exceptional tuba player, my daughter loves to play soccer and my youngest son is interested in just about everything.
About my practice
I was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 13 and decided that I wanted to go into the medical field to help children with medical problems similar to mine. Working in medicine can be a challenge, but that’s what brings me back to the office everyday with a strong sense of determination and purpose. As a pediatrician, I hope to influence my young patients to start living healthy now and for the rest of their lives. Kids are a lot of fun and I love to interact and laugh with them. I strive to be open and honest with my patients and their families. I diligently listen to parents and guardians because they know their children the best. The Hawaii Permanente Medical Group allows me to focus on both the health of my patients and their recovery when they are ill. Working in a small town like Hilo is also enjoyable because I get to see my patients outside of the clinic at the soccer field, the park and at the movies.
How I thrive
I spend most of my time trying to keep up with my kids and their activities. I am very involved in coaching soccer and love to help out at the Waiakea High School Band Club. Hilo has so many fun places to visit and things to see. There is never a dull moment and I enjoy them all with my family.
