Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Female
I'm accepting new patients.
I was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, and my husband grew up in Hawaii. After living and working on the Mainland for a number of years, we made the decision to move back to the Islands to be closer to our family.
I have been fascinated by the workings of the human body ever since I was a child. Over time, this interest grew into a desire to help others as a doctor, and I feel privileged to now serve my patients in that role. I chose pediatrics as my specialty because I’ve always loved being around children. By nature they are fun and unpredictable, and they motivate me to be the best that I can be. I decided to subspecialize in pediatric rheumatology because I believe this complex and interesting field is both under-recognized and underserved.I’m honored to be a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. At the Juvenile Arthritis Conference in Anaheim, California, I gave a presentation on medications used in juvenile idiopathic arthritis. I also co-authored a research study on this condition that was published in the medical journal Arthritis Care and Research. I stay up-to-date with current medical research by regularly reading professional medical journals and daily bulletins put out by the American Association of Pediatrics and the American College of Rheumatology. In addition to speaking English, I’m fluent in Mandarin Chinese.I was happy to join the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because my beliefs and practices closely align with the Kaiser Permanente philosophy. I enjoy talking to my patients and learning about their personal interests, along with their health concerns. I believe that an honest and open relationship between physician and patient plays an important role on the journey to good health.
I try to stay healthy and balanced by being active — exercising regularly, chasing my children around, and challenging myself mentally, both at work and home. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, knitting, baking, good food, and spending time with my kids and friends.
