Where I practice
I was born in California and raised in Idaho. After living in Oregon, Germany, and Alaska while serving in the U.S. Air Force, I wanted to be near the ocean again and escape the cold and snow.
About my practice
Since I was five years old I have wanted to help women deliver babies. This has been my passion since that young age and is my calling in life. My professional designations include certification as a lactation consultant and a sexual assault nurse examiner. To stay abreast of the most current medical research, I attend national conferences and avidly read several obstetric publications. I love to discuss the latest research with my colleagues to ensure that my care delivery is up-to-date and that I am doing my very best for my patients. I first became interested in working for Kaiser Permanente when I saw its TV commercial explaining the health benefits of hugs! I knew then that this was an organization after my own heart. After researching the company further, I found that its values of professional competency, integrity, flexibility, reliability, compassionate caring, and a striving for excellence completely aligned with my own. It was a perfect match for me. As a midwife I strive to assist women in experiencing their ideal pregnancy, whether this means utilizing all of the medical conveniences available or having a completely natural delivery. My goal is to educate and empower women so that they can make the best choices for themselves and their families while at the same time ensuring the safety of both mother and baby throughout the birthing process. My favorite part of being a midwife is delivering the babies -- there is no better feeling in the world than being with a family as they welcome a precious new life.
How I thrive
I am excited to be near the beach again and able to participate in the many aquatic activities that were not available to me when I lived in Alaska and Germany. Swimming is one of my favorite pastimes, and I hope to learn to scuba dive soon. Some of my other hobbies include reading, traveling, and crafts of all kinds. I especially enjoy knitting and crocheting, although there will be less need for hats and mittens now that I live in a place with no snow!
