Where I practice
I grew up in New Orleans, but Atlanta has been home for most of my life. I enjoy the changing of the seasons here, and the fall colors make October my favorite month. My wife and I met while we were in college at Emory. Many other family members have attended Emory as well. We have three kids who are now young adults. They have all finished college, and all are employed full-time at the moment!
About my practice
I liked to fix things when I was a kid. If something was not broken, I would take it apart and put it back together to see how it works. A surgical career seemed like a natural fit for me. It was just a matter of choosing a surgical specialty. The appeal of urology is that there are many things that we can actually fix. Helping our members get well is the greatest joy in practicing medicine.
I have practiced urology in Atlanta for many years, and I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2012. Over the years I have served in many roles including Chief of Urology at Piedmont Hospital and at Kaiser Permanente. I seek to bring the benefit of my experience to meet the needs of our members.
How I thrive
Balance in life, relationships, and doing good for others are the keys to health and happiness for me. I eat a healthy diet, except for my particular affection for vanilla ice cream. (Is organic ice cream okay?) I like a balance of activities in my life. Playing tennis gives me the opportunity for exercise and camaraderie while having fun. At other times, I like to do some aerobic and strength exercises. I have served as a volunteer at Camp Kudzu for many years managing insulin therapy for kids with Type 1 Diabetes. Time with family and friends is treasured. Sometimes I just like to relax by listening to high fidelity music, especially my eclectic jazz selections. Recently I have taken an interest in learning to play music. For vacations, I like adventures that include physical activity, learning about history and other cultures, and seeing the natural wonders of the world.
