About me
I was the fourth of five children born in Pittsburgh, Pa. My mother was the secretary for a local doctor's office, which made me interested in medicine at a very early age. I received my undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. I completed my residency at St. Margaret's Family Practice in Pittsburgh and was assistant chief resident my final year. I practiced for five years in the Air Force, as I attended medical school on a military scholarship, and was stationed in Arkansas and Panama. I learned a great deal in those years, including how to speak Spanish. I then returned to practice family medicine in Pittsburgh for twelve years. I moved to Cleveland, Ga., where I practiced for ten years, and have now relocated to Conyers to continue to practice medicine with Kaiser Permanente.
About my practice
I have now been practicing medicine for over 30 years. Since I began my career, the medical field has changed tremendously, but I still feel good about what I do. I have always tried to focus on the patient to make sure that they feel they are being listened to and cared for properly. I have enjoyed the diversity of family medicine. It is hard sometimes to be all things to all people, but the variety of patients and conditions I see keeps things interesting. I feel that I have always enjoyed practicing family medicine more than limiting myself to a narrower specialty.
How I thrive
Like most people, work takes up a lot of my time, but I try to thrive through golf, walking, exercise and gardening. I always feel there is nothing as healthy or delicious as vegetables that are fresh from the garden. I spend most weekends with the barbeque and have become pretty versatile on it. I enjoy outings with my youngest son through volunteering with the Boy Scouts and going camping, hiking and bicycling on the Silver Comet Trail.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select providers and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.
