Where I practice
I was born and raised in North Georgia and relocated to Atlanta to attend Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University. I knew that I wanted to deliver babies the moment I observed a twin delivery during a high school apprenticeship program. It was the most amazing thing that I had ever witnessed, and I am still in awe of pregnancy and delivery. Prior to attending graduate school at Emory University, I was a labor and delivery nurse for five years and was able to gain first-hand knowledge of the type of care and compassion that nurse midwives provide. After graduating from midwifery school, I had the opportunity to practice in both Colorado and New York, where I was able to grow both professionally and personally. I am now happy to be back home in Georgia and working for such a great organization.
About my practice
As a nurse midwife, I believe that the strength, knowledge and inner wisdom of women is vital for a healthy and holistic delivery. During the journey of pregnancy, I seek to aid women and their families in developing and implementing labor and delivery goals that are important to them and reflect their cultural, social and spiritual backgrounds and beliefs. My primary concern is for the safety of each mother and child, as well as a respect for human dignity and cultural diversity. It is my privilege to participate with families throughout this process and ensure that each delivery is a life changing and fulfilling experience. I also enjoy taking care of gynecological patients from adolescence through menopause. I am excited to provide all members with holistic health care and educate them appropriately in making health care decisions. I am privileged to be working alongside such an amazing group of physicians, associate practitioners and staff.
How I thrive
I thrive by spending quality time with my family and friends, as well as incorporating exercise into my daily routine. I recently completed my first marathon and hope to complete many more. I also enjoy traveling, hiking and yoga, as well as reading a good book and spending time with my dog, Sadie.
