Where I practice
I was born and raised in New York, and I always knew I wanted to become a physician. Math and science were my favorite subjects and I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. Therefore, a career in medicine was an obvious choice. I love what I do and have never thought twice about my life's direction. I chose otolaryngology (ENT) as I enjoy working with my hands and taking care of people of all ages, children as well as adults.I migrated up the East Coast attending college in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania, medical school at Columbia University, an internship at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City and my residency at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. After deciding to leave academic medicine and pursue private practice, my wife and I made the decision to move to Atlanta. As we were trying to make our decision, we visited Atlanta in March. The flowers were blooming while there was snow on the ground in Boston. The weather sealed the deal and we made the move south! I am married and enjoy spending my free time with my wife and three wonderful children.
About my practice
I have been with Kaiser Permanente for 19 years. I was chief of the Otolaryngology Department for 14 years and helped develop the department as an outstanding clinical entity with great physicians. For the past two years, I have been the associate medical director for specialty care.My philosophy on treating members is to treat our members exactly the same way I would want my family to be treated. I try to educate our members about their disease process and discuss their treatment options. I take great pride in my patients' care and their outcomes.
How I thrive
Physical fitness is an important part of my life. I used to enjoy running, but over the past few years I have abandoned running and go to the health club at least four days a week. I will usually use the elliptical machines and then play squash with my daughter. My hobbies include cooking (as it allows me to be creative), skiing, beach vacations and traveling.
