Where I practice
I am a Southern girl, born and bred in the state of Alabama - ROLL TIDE! I have now lived in Georgia for over 25 years with my husband and two adult children. By nature, I am a helper and good listener. My mother and high school teachers encouraged me to expand my vision of helping others by pursuing a career in medicine. I was drawn to the field of psychiatry during medical school because I enjoyed talking to patients much more than performing procedures. Upon completion of a general psychiatry residency, my love for children led me to continue my training in child and adolescent psychiatry. I have worked in a variety of settings and was in private practice for a number of years before joining Kaiser Permanente. I truly believe that a healthy mind is the cornerstone of a healthy body, healthy spirit and healthy life.
About my practice
I am trained to treat children, adolescents and adults. I enjoy working with all age groups. My basic philosophy in life is to treat others as I want to be treated. My approach to practice is that of collaboration between myself and the member. Each individual is unique and therefore, treatment should be geared toward their individual needs. My role is to educate and provide my best professional recommendation. I then assist our members in deciding which option best suits their needs. I am part of a talented and caring team of professionals. I believe we provide outstanding mental health care, and our goal is to help our members thrive.
How I thrive
I am very active in church as my faith largely defines me as a person. I am also an avid sports fan and enjoy most sports, football being my favorite. I love the game of tennis and have played on a women's doubles team. I also enjoy exercise, but admit that I need to step up my game in this area. My all-time favorite activity is sitting on the beach reading a book or listening to music. I have great friends and a wonderful family, which help me to thrive!
