Where I practice
I am a recent Georgia transplant by way of Virginia. I completed my undergraduate degree in biology at Virginia Tech, attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia and finally completed my internal medicine internship and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. I started with Kaiser Permanente in 2018, and I am excited to explore Georgia with my husband, two children and two crazy dogs.
About my practice
What is a physiatrist? Physiatry or physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) is medical specialty focused on function. Physiatrists train in the long-term management of functional limitations due to traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic injury and neurologic conditions. We work closely with therapists to navigate a patient's recovery and any issues that present along the way.
As a physiatrist, I am trained to investigate neurological and musculoskeletal disorders causing pain that may limit a patient's function or ability to participate in daily activities and hobbies. I work to design a customized plan with the careful use of medications, therapies and exercise to provide our members with a long-term plan for managing their pain and regaining function in their lives.
How I thrive
I thrive by spending time with my husband and children, exploring farmers markets, learning to cook new things and trying new restaurants. I love to hike or just sit on the beach reading. My favorite place to escape is St. John in the Virgin Islands.
