Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Male
Yes, my office is accepting new patients. May require referral.
I am originally from the Dayton, Ohio area and received my undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. My bachelor's degree was in Paper Science Engineering, which led me to work in the paper industry for 9 years based out of Jacksonville, FL. After 9 years and growing tired of endless work related travel, I decided to make a change and was accepted into the University of Colorado's Physician Assistant program. I had always had an interest in health and medicine and decided to pursue a different career path. While in graduate school at the University of Colorado, I gravitated to a focus in Family Medicine and Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2013, I worked at a private Internal Medicine clinic in the Denver Tech Center for six years. I met my wife, Allison, at Miami University and we have now been married for 13 years. We have 2 young boys, Christopher and Alexander, who are 4 and 1 years old. I personally enjoy cycling and as a family, we try and travel as much as possible. We enjoy showing our boys the beauty of Colorado, as well as exposing them to other areas of the world whenever possible.
As I progressed through the University of Colorado Physician Assistant program, I realized that I enjoyed the challenges of family/internal medicine versus a focus in a specific specialty. I enjoy the ability to get to know the patients that entrust their health care to me. I believe it is important to treat the whole person and to help patients focus on a healthy lifestyle versus only treating problems as they arise. Kaiser Permanente has many services and programs that I can help patients utilize in their quest to a healthy and balanced lifestyle. In addition to the common conditions of hypertension, diabetes, elevated cholesterol and many others, I am also trained to provide different types of joint injections, including knee, shoulder, elbow and hip.
My career transition into healthcare was driven by a desire to help patients live a healthier life. Working in healthcare has been much more rewarding and fulfilling compared to my previous career as an engineer. It has also helped me personally to live a healthier and more balanced life. Living in a beautiful state, such as Colorado, has also been important in helping my family to embrace a healthier lifestyle. My wife and I enjoy hiking, camping, skiing and travel and are now focusing on introducing our two young boys to these activities. Since our move to Colorado in 2001, I have also become an avid cyclist and enjoy exploring the Denver area and the mountains of Colorado on my bike as much as possible.
