Where I practice
I was born in England and spent my childhood in England and India. When I was about 10 years old, I was asked to write an essay about what I would like to be when I was older. I wrote that I would like to be a doctor and take care of people. I never changed my mind about my career path from then on. It has been a real privilege that has taken me on an amazing adventure. I went to medical school in India and graduated in 1993. I then worked as a house officer in the U.K. before completing my internal medicine residency at The New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens at Cornell University. I then completed my fellowship in geriatrics at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. I went on to spend 2 years in England and Wales. I worked in busy London hospitals, including Charing Cross and Hammersmith, gaining a wide variety of experience in multiple disease processes. I also worked closely with a geriatrician in Llandudno, Wales, attaining valuable experience in care of the elderly. I returned to the U.S. and my husband, a veterinarian, got a job at CSU in Fort Collins. As a result, we arrived in Colorado in 2003. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2012 and enjoy a fulfilling career with this organization.
About my practice
My philosophy is that “less is more,” especially when it comes to my frail, elderly patients. I do not believe that there is a pill for every ill, and in fact, try to keep medications to a minimum. We continue to learn that medication’s adverse effects impact quality of life significantly in the elderly population. I like to partner with my patients to see what your philosophy is and how I can help improve your quality of life. I work with you at every stage of your care and communicate options to help you make the best decision for your lifestyle and well-being. As a geriatrician, I mostly see patients over 65 years old. I enjoy conducting dementia evaluations and management.
How I thrive
Hiking with my husband and practicing yoga help me relax and unwind. I also enjoy entertaining and love to cook for friends.
