Where I practice
I have my doctorate of Counselor Education and Supervision and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Before coming to Kaiser Permanente, I owned a private group practice and have worked in hospital and agency settings. I specialize in treating trauma and believe my patients have what they need within them to heal. The integrated model of care at Kaiser Permanente helps create balance makes it a great place to work and be a member.
About my practice
I choose trauma as a specialty of care after working with youth who were victims of trauma while getting my undergraduate degree. I saw how trauma impacted the nervous system and attachment. I also saw how powerful it was when integration of trauma occurred. I work with adults with a variety of diagnosis in a warm and empathic capacity. I am trained in EMDR to help patients integrate trauma. The theory of EMDR is that many psychological difficulties are the result of distressing life experiences which may be unprocessed. EMDR works to help patients process these memories.
I believe in the mind-body connection. I believe balance in emotional and physical aspects is important for overall well-being. I believe our experiences shape who we are and that we have within us what we need to heal ourselves. I work as a team with our specialists, pharmacists and others to coordinate my patients' care. My goal is to provide the most appropriate care for my patients, so they aren't spending extra time or money to get the care they deserve.
How I thrive
I believe self-care is necessary. Spending time with family and friends is fulfilling. I also love to play soccer and workout. I run for fun and love the occasional fun run or obstacle course challenge. I love to give back to the community through volunteer work and giving to local charities.
