About me

I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona and have always loved the mountains, sunshine, and outdoor activities so Colorado is home! I went to college at the University of Notre Dame, medical school at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and completed residency in Phoenix. I completed a fellowship in clinical medical ethics at the University of Chicago. I am board certified in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. I worked in a private group setting for two years after residency and then worked for almost 10 years in the VA health care system as a primary care physician and medical ethicist caring for our nation’s veterans and teaching internal medicine residents. I learned a lot about medical issues specifically related to combat and military service. In addition to taking care of patients, I enjoy reading, teaching and consulting about medical ethics. My husband was active duty in the Air Force when we met so we lived all over the country but we are so happy to be settled and here to stay in Colorado. I am delighted to join the outstanding team at Kaiser Permanente and get to know our new community!

About my practice

Exercise, a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle are crucial to good health. I emphasize preventative medicine and try to prescribe medication only when necessary. I engage my patients in decision making together. I love to get to know my patients, their families and their stories. In addition to medical ethics, I have a special interest in men's health, military medicine, and treating military veterans and their families. My practice philosophy is to work with my patients to make realistic goals to help them to be active and healthy.

How I thrive

Being outside with my husband and kids on a new adventure is what makes me thrive! We love skiing, hiking, travelling, and cheering on the Irish on football Saturdays. Both of our children are adopted from China and they join us in all our outdoor adventures.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente of Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Information about a practitioner is provided to us by the practitioner or the practitioner's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.

Referrals to affiliated/contracted physicians/providers in Denver/Boulder

Affiliated/contracted physicians/providers are not part of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG). They are physicians/providers who have a contract with the CPMG.

If your CPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from CPMG, he or she will refer you to an affiliated/contracted physician/provider.

You must have a written referral to the affiliated/contracted physician/provider in order for Kaiser Permanente Colorado to cover the services. A referral is a written authorization from Kaiser Permanente for you to receive a covered service from an affiliated/contracted physician/provider.
