Where I practice
I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, with three sisters and supportive, loving parents. My mother was a registered nurse and I became a candy striper in the hospital where she worked when I was still in elementary school. From early on I was fascinated with medicine and loved children, so pediatrics was a natural choice for me. I went to the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and then did my pediatric residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I took every opportunity open to me to travel and learn more about medicine while experiencing different cultures. I worked for six months in a small clinic in rural Tanzania and did month-long rotations in Costa Rica and Nepal while I was in training. Each place where I have worked holds a special place in my heart. It was in Tucson that I met and married my husband and we had our first son. We moved to Denver in 2003 where our second son was born. We feel very fortunate to be raising our boys in beautiful Colorado. I joined Kaiser Permanente in December of 2010 after practicing pediatrics for 12 years, first in Tucson and then in central Denver.
About my practice
My goal is to provide high-quality and compassionate care to all of my patients. I strive to listen closely to patients and their parents and work together to achieve a healthy outcome. It is a privilege to work with families and watch children grow up into healthy young adults. I feel very fortunate to be part of the Lakewood Pediatrics team where we have a great group of supportive providers and staff who collaborate to care for our patients.
How I thrive
I very much enjoy my work, but I keep balance in my life by spending as much time as possible enjoying the beautiful outdoors in Colorado with my family. We enjoy traveling, hiking, skiing and biking together. We also enjoy quiet time reading books together every evening.
