Originally from Belarus, I graduated from New York University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and received my medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1999. After completing my residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, I spent the next six years working in the general internal medicine practice, teaching residents and medical students. A significant part of my practice in the Bronx, New York, was dedicated to management of diabetes, obesity, bone and thyroid disease. To learn how to treat complex patients with diabetes and metabolic disease, I completed my endocrinology fellowship at New York & Presbyterian Hospital - Cornell and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2010. I am board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. After my fellowship, I moved to Denver with my husband, who is also a physician, and our five beautiful children. I am proud to work for Kaiser Permanente, where I have the chance to practice first-class medicine in an environment where patients come first.
As an internist and endocrinologist, I have an opportunity to provide general medical as well as specialized endocrine care to patients with diabetes, bone, cholesterol, thyroid and weight problems. I truly enjoy getting to know my patients, their families and the communities they come from. I believe that successful long-term management of any medical problem is a joint venture between a patient and his or her physician. Empowering patients to be proactive in their care and to understand their medical conditions and treatments is essential to achieving better outcomes. I incorporate discussion of lifestyle changes including better sleep, nutrition, exercise and stress reduction in many interactions with my patients.
Moving from New York to Denver gave our family an opportunity to become more physically active, enjoying various outdoor activities, especially biking and skiing. I love cooking new foods from various cultures. To me, cooking is an art and creative outlet as well as a form of mind relaxation. I am privileged to give back to the community.
