Yes, my office is accepting new patients. May require referral.
I am from East Moline, Illinois, often referred to as the Quad Cities. I attended Iowa State University and completed my Bachelor degree in Psychology in 1993. I chose to complete my Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Iowa in 1995 and became licensed in Colorado in 2002. I chose the social work profession because it allows me to have a diverse and flexible career in helping people to solve problems. I have been in program development, counseling, and mentoring services in a college setting, and coordinated a program and provided direct clinical services for adult women and men, and families with mental illness and substance abuse diagnosis.I have been living in Colorado since 1999 with my husband and daughter, who is attending Colorado State University.
My philosophy is to guide and empower individuals to help themselves. I aim to establish a warm and validating environment that reinforces mindfulness in conjunction with acceptance and change strategies. Specific conditions that I treat include depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance abuse, trauma, situational and relationship problems. I provide individual, family, and couples therapy. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is one approach that I use in session and it asks both therapist and client to find the balance between accepting reality as it and a commitment to change.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends when not working. I have developed a passion for cooking and preparing new recipes. I find pleasure in watching sports, and exercising.
