Where I practice
I am originally from Louisville, Kentucky, but lived in New England and the upper Midwest before finally settling here in Colorado. As the bumper sticker says, “I got here as fast as I could!” My family and I love living in Colorado for its natural beauty and outdoor recreation, and we make a point of enjoying it together as often as possible. I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente because we focus on keeping people healthy and active, so that our members can also live the lives that they love!
About my practice
My practice consists of nearly all aspects of anesthesiology, including general and regional anesthesia, obstetrics, and some pediatrics, but my special focus is in cardiothoracic anesthesia. I truly enjoy the complexity of caring for patients undergoing heart surgery, and the team effort involved in seeing those patients through to a healthy recovery. I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families as people and ushering them safely, comfortably, and confidently through what can be an otherwise stressful time in their lives. I try to focus on making surgery as comfortable an experience as I can—not only in minimizing pain, but also by helping my patients to understand the surgical process, minimizing the mystery, and instilling the confidence that I will provide the most conscientious, safe care possible.
How I thrive
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and all that the Colorado outdoors has to offer. I am an avid trail runner, skier, and mountain biker, and an aspiring fly fisherman. My wife and I love to take our boys camping, and we enjoy traveling as often as possible. We also like to cook, and we are slowly improving our garden year by year.
