I grew up in Arizona, which is also where I completed medical school and my pediatric training. While I made the decision to become a physician in high school, I have always enjoyed many areas of medicine and didn’t decide on pediatrics until I was in medical school. I moved to Colorado to enjoy outdoor activities. Since residency I have been in private practice and worked at Kaiser Permanente, practicing both pediatrics and medical informatics. As my kids have grown and the opportunity to return to Kaiser Permanente came my way, I jumped at the chance to return to the style of practice that I feel is best. Practicing pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente allows me to care for children the way I was trained to do, in an environment that is supportive of both the physician and the patient.
I have always enjoyed interacting with children and I try to get them involved in their own care. As the kids get older I encourage them to talk to me about their health and have an understanding of what they can do to maintain or improve it. I frequently find myself agreeing with the old saying that laughter is the best medicine and bring humor into my interactions with patients and families, while being serious when needed. During your visit, I strive to educate your family on how to care for yourselves and provide the information you need to join with me in making health care decisions. I feel that this results in quality care that makes everyone more comfortable.
I can frequently be found in the mountains hiking, biking, skiing and camping. I also enjoy motorsports such as riding ATVs, dirt bikes and boating. I do most of my own home and yard maintenance along with car care. This gives me more ways to relax as well as something I can take pride in. I feel staying busy in a variety of activities is a key to having a balanced life. Laughing and enjoying life may be the best path to good health. This is what I try to do both at work and on my own time.
