My gender: Male
Where I practice
I immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1981. I grew up in Colorado and never left because I believe there is no place better. I became a physician to expand medical access to the Vietnamese population in Colorado, as I am fluent in Vietnamese. I love teaching and part of my job allows me to educate residents at Saint Joseph Hospital. I am married with 2 beautiful children. Our family loves to go to the mountains and travel to various tropical destinations. I also enjoy trying different foods from different cultures.
About my practice
I practice hospital medicine and find this work most rewarding. I try to provide comfort and ease the minds of my patients during a time when their health is most critical. My practice is guided by evidence-based medicine with a focus on shared decision-making with my patients. I listen to understand my patients’ concerns and review their electronic medical records to see the big picture of their health, allowing me to make good use of our time together and answer their questions. The hospital is a very complex environment, and my specialty is to help coordinate all the tests and specialists in one effort, so my patients can get better and return to enjoying life.
How I thrive
In order to help my patients thrive, I must thrive in mind, body and spirit myself. Outside of work, I focus on my family, exploring different parts of the world and learning new cultures. I have visited Polynesia, Southeast Asia, Mexico and the Caribbean. My experiences remind me of how diverse we all are and to truly respect and value everyone’s cultural differences. I thrive on being able to care for such a diverse population in Colorado.
