Where I practice
I am originally from Arkansas, went to medical school at the University of Missouri in Columbia, did my residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania, was in private practice in Bloomington, Indiana, and then finally landed here in Colorado! I was a hospitalist physician for several years, and then transitioned back into outpatient practice. I enjoy treating diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I also enjoy helping patients to identify their quality of life goals and achieve those goals with a care plan that is in harmony with their personal value system. I love science and applying current known scientific evidence to decision making.
About my practice
I believe that among the most important investments you will make in your lifetime are those that maintain or improve your health. I want to help people who have a sincere interest in improving their overall wellness achieve their maximum quality of life. I believe that healthy living choices are often as effective as medications in managing many health problems. I am a believer in “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Both the physician and the patient have to do the work to decrease the chance of illness when possible through appropriate screening and to manage diseases effectively in order to reduce complications. The physician-patient partnership is vital to achieving and maintaining good health. To build a great partnership there must be mutual respect, trust, honesty and a willingness to work together.
How I thrive
I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, hiking, skiing, reading, movies and music. My family and I love to travel together, both exploring new places and revisiting old favorites and old friends.
