I grew up in Holland and Saudi Arabia since my father was an engineer and worked for the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO). Growing up overseas afforded me the opportunity to travel worldwide and experience cultures that were not as fortunate as ours. During a summer internship at a free clinic in Saudi Arabia, I became committed to my aspiring career of being a health care provider. I attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and initially worked as a registered nurse for 15 years. During that time, I was married and had two children. I returned to school and completed my medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. My family and I moved to Denver for my family medicine residency at St. Anthony’s. I have been practicing as a family medicine physician in primary care settings for 17 years.
I chose family medicine in order to provide care to the entire family over all ages. I enjoy newborns, toddlers, school-aged children, teenagers, young and middle-aged adults, and the elderly. I especially like to take care of an entire family including children, parents and grandparents! I strive for a respectful relationship between the patient and myself. My strength is that I listen very carefully to a patient’s concerns and attempt to create a treatment plan that meets the needs and expectations of my patient. My specific interests include weight management, smoking cessation, health maintenance, prevention of chronic diseases, and early detection of diseases.
I enjoy spending time with my family, including my husband and two grown children. When I have some idle time, I like to read mystery novels, garden, cook, and walk my dog. My husband and I also enjoy frequent trips to the mountains to enjoy Colorado’s beautiful scenery.
