Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Female
Yes, my office is accepting new patients. May require referral.
I was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., but lived in many other states while growing up. I moved to Colorado in 1982 to be near the mountains and partake in all the activities they afford. I graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1989, and moved to Denver to practice nursing. I obtained my master’s degree in primary health care of adults University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1995. Since then, I have worked at Kaiser Permanente as a nurse practitioner in internal medicine and family practice, urgent care, and since 2008, in the complex care home rounding service where I visit our members where they live—at home or assisted living residence.
I chose adult primary care because I relate with this population—age 18 to geriatric. I feel that I have a lot to offer people in terms of optimizing their health, keeping in mind their goals and what is important to them. I encourage people to be active partners in their health care choices. Complex Care Home Rounding Service strives to provide integrated health care services to our members regardless of where they live, or where they are in their lifespan continuum. My style can be described as casual yet very competent. I am down to Earth, and enjoy laughter and a good sense of humor. Giving my patients realistic, helpful information gives them a sense of empowerment and hope. I believe that being genuine is the best policy.
I thrive in: Mind: I stay active in my professional pursuits, and am always learning. Reading a is huge hobby, as is hiking and being outdoors. Body: I exercise regularly, mostly walk or hike, warm water Aqua Ai Chi classes, some snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and cycling. Spirit: I regularly attend church and am involved in activities there. I believe in helping those less fortunate than I am (homeless individuals, poor or underserved communities, refugees, abused/abandoned animals, etc.).
