About me
I became a Colorado ‘native’ at the age of 6 months old when my parents moved our family from Maryland. Although I have lived on the East Coast and in the Southwest, Colorado is my home. My first ‘real job’ other than flipping burgers was as a surgery orderly. My duties were not much more than moving patients from room to room and cleaning the operating rooms, but I was hooked. I loved the culture and teamwork of medicine, and was fascinated by the science of caring. I took a non-traditional path to becoming a physician, working as a paramedic, starting a family and then realizing my dream of becoming a physician in 1998. I received my medical degree at the University of Colorado and completed my residency in emergency medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, I have a master’s degree from the University of Denver in healthcare systems. I am blessed to have a wonderful wife and two adult children that bring me great joy, as well as a Burmese cat named Minky.
About my practice
I believe health care is a partnership. My role as an emergency physician is to provide care that places my patient at the center of my focus. We know that coming to the emergency department is frightening and can increase your sense of vulnerability. I believe that each patient is unique. I recognize that although I may have experienced hundreds of similar health-related crises with other patients, this is YOUR first time. I take the time needed to help you understand not only what is going on but what your care options can be. We together will decide where to go from there. Your health is a collaboration and I will use all my experience and expertise to guide, counsel and act on your wishes. I strive to honor your unique health journey.
How I thrive
I enjoy all Colorado has to offer, most enthusiastically bicycling and fishing. When the weather doesn’t cooperate, I find happiness in working with stained glass and fused glass art. I like to cook but only work as the sous chef—my wife is the real cook in the family!

The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Referrals to affiliated/contracted physicians/providers in Denver/Boulder
Affiliated/contracted physicians/providers are not part of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG). They are physicians/providers who have a contract with the CPMG.
