Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Male
Yes, my office is accepting new patients. May require referral.
One of my first jobs was working in the operating room as a surgical assistant. I did this for several years and it ultimately inspired me to continue on to medical school and train in surgery. I grew up and trained on the East Coast, and I am a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. My first job out of residency brought my family west and subsequently to Colorado with Kaiser Permanente, where we settled and raised our children. Our children are grown now, but we enjoy living with our two dogs.
I find it gratifying that with most surgical diseases, particularly for an acutely ill person, a procedure can lead to a fairly quick turnaround and recovery, if not a cure. In addition to the broad spectrum of procedures done in general surgery, I have focused on thoracic or chest surgery in my practice. I aim to inform a patient of their disease process and surgical options in terms they can understand. I then take the time to answer all questions to their satisfaction. Sometimes, achieving the best outcome requires some commitment from the patient as well. When this is true, I will be very frank about how important it can be.
To thrive, I make time to exercise, no matter what. I strive to do some form of sustained aerobic activity, and swimming is my favorite. It is a good way to unwind and unclutter the mind. I enjoy outdoor activities and sports for recreation, as well as playing guitar for relaxation.
