About me

I’m a Colorado native, but after 14 years of bouncing around the world in Massachusetts, Malawi, Missouri and North Carolina, I have been happy to return to Colorado and work for Kaiser Permanente since 2011. My wife is a Kaiser Permanente physician as well, and our 2 boys are members. Needless to say, I firmly believe that an integrated care model is the best way to provide quality care.

About my practice

I am an adult hospitalist, an internal medicine physician who works in the hospital dealing with acute problems. I usually meet patients when they’re having an acute medical problem that is unanticipated. A very important part of my job is to spend time talking with patients and their families to help them understand the new problem that’s being addressed – what it is, what it means, and how we’re treating it. The hospital can be a confusing, and at times, scary place, so I view a crucial part of my job as being an ambassador to help people navigate through their acute illnesses. I work as a team with our specialists, pharmacists and others to coordinate my patients’ care. I’m interested in medical education and helping doctors provide the best evidence-based care available.

How I thrive

I enjoy riding my bike to work, running for exercise, and dabbling in carpentry for fun. I play a mean game of Scrabble. I like tools and fixing things around the house. I love our annual summer vacation to the shore in Delaware to visit family with the boys.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente of Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. However, providers are responsible for notifying kp.org of any changes to their information, and untimely communication may result in outdated provider information appearing on the website. Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.

Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Information about a practitioner is provided to us by the practitioner or the practitioner's network, or is obtained as part of the credentialing process. An authorization or referral may be required to access some providers in this directory. If you have questions, contact Member Services.

Referrals to affiliated/contracted physicians/providers in Denver/Boulder

Affiliated/contracted physicians/providers are not part of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG). They are physicians/providers who have a contract with the CPMG.

If your CPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from CPMG, he or she will refer you to an affiliated/contracted physician/provider.

You must have a written referral to the affiliated/contracted physician/provider in order for Kaiser Permanente Colorado to cover the services. A referral is a written authorization from Kaiser Permanente for you to receive a covered service from an affiliated/contracted physician/provider.
