About me
I’m a Colorado native who went to Saint Olaf College in Minnesota for undergraduate education before returning to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for my medical degree. I also completed my internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Colorado. I joined the Kaiser Permanente Oncology department in 2005 and have been here ever since. I am board certified in hematology and oncology, and I have led our Kaiser Permanente oncology clinical trials program for more than eight years. I also have an interest in health services and cancer outcomes research, and I have co-authored several research papers that have been published in peer reviewed medical journals. More recently I have served as our department’s quality and value advisor and as the director of the Excellence in Cancer Care Committee. I was honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2018.
About my practice
I pursued a career in oncology because I find it rewarding to support patients as they navigate their way through a very frightening illness. My goal is to really listen and understand what my patient’s concerns and goals are, so that we can craft a care plan together. My areas of focus are brain, bladder, prostate, kidney, breast, lung and hematologic malignancies, as well as benign hematology. I love working at Kaiser Permanente because of the great patient-centered doctors that are drawn to work here. I would trust the care of my family members to any of my colleagues.
How I thrive
My wife and three kids and I live in Greenwood Village, and in my leisure time, I enjoy singing, biking, hiking, and spending time with my family.

Information in this online directory is updated periodically and applies to commercial plans underwritten by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. The availability of physicians, hospitals, providers, and services may change. To verify whether a provider accepts Kaiser Permanente plans, contact the provider directly. Current provider information is available at kp.org/locations. This information is updated within 72 business hours of receipt from providers. Kaiser Permanente of Colorado attempts to ensure the online directory contains up-to-date information. Kaiser Permanente uses the same quality, member experience, or cost-related measures to select practitioners and facilities in Marketplace Silver-tier plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business. The measures may include, but are not limited to, HEDIS/CAHPS performance, member/patient complaints, patient safety scores, hospital quality measures, and geographic need. Members enrolled in KFHP Marketplace plans have access to all professional, institutional and ancillary health care providers who participate in KFHP plans' contracted provider network, in accordance with the terms of the members' KFHP plan of coverage. All Kaiser Permanente Medical Group physicians and network physicians are subject to the same quality review processes and certifications.
Kaiser Permanente uses the same geographic distribution consideration to select hospitals in Marketplace plans as it does for all other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) products and lines of business.

Referrals to affiliated/contracted physicians/providers in Denver/Boulder
Affiliated/contracted physicians/providers are not part of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG). They are physicians/providers who have a contract with the CPMG.
If your CPMG physician decides that you require covered services not available internally from CPMG, he or she will refer you to an affiliated/contracted physician/provider.
You must have a written referral to the affiliated/contracted physician/provider in order for Kaiser Permanente Colorado to cover the services. A referral is a written authorization from Kaiser Permanente for you to receive a covered service from an affiliated/contracted physician/provider.
